You may already know that the most efficient way to improve your basketball skills is to practice them in actual games.

Still, there are also drills you can do to become more effective on the court. Below are four efficient basketball drills that will help you improve your ball handling, dribbling, shooting, and rebounding skills. Plus, these drills are relatively easy to learn. They will give you hands-on experience with all aspects of the game while making each drill challenging to see immediate improvement.

1. Single leg jumping rope

This drill focuses on improving your footwork.

Jumping rope while using one leg is a great way to improve your coordination and get a handle on fast-paced movements. You’ll improve your speed and endurance by getting used to changing directions quickly and jumping rope with one leg.

Plus, you might even be able to do more pushups.

2. Hand-eye coordination drill

This drill uses a rebounding net basketball and a coach.

When starting, focus on one hand at a time; when you are comfortable with that, move on to using both hands. Then, stand under a basket and catch the ball for thirty seconds. Do not let any balls hit the ground or bounce out of your hands.

This helps with eye-hand coordination, which is crucial for basketball.

3. Glass Cleaner Drill

A player starts in the left lane and throws the ball off the backboard or a basketball hoop rebounder.

The next step is to use both hands to secure the rebound. Then, outside the other lane line, come down with a firm base. Finally, throw the ball back off the backboard and repeat. This workout will help you improve your ability to rebound from one side of the court to the other.

It also improves your grip and forearm strength, which is beneficial for rebounding.

4. One-two dribble, spin, jump shot drill

Make sure your feet are shoulder-width apart, your knees bent at a 90-degree angle, and your back straight.

Once in position, you’ll want to do five one-two dribbles from left-to-right (or right-to-left). After completing those one-two dribbles, you’ll want to spin around for about two seconds and then jump up for a layup.

Repeat for three sets of 10 reps.
